The Job Hunt Kit: Everything We Wish Job Seekers Knew (And Had)

You’re Not the Problem, But Your Tools Might Be.

You’re Not the Problem, But Your Tools Might Be.

If last week’s blog hit a nerve, you’re not alone. So many smart, hardworking people are out here doing “everything right” and still not getting traction. That’s not a personal failure. It’s a systems problem. Most early career job seekers are navigating broken advice, outdated templates, and emotional burnout… all while trying to look “confident” on Zoom. That’s why we built the Job Hunt Kit, a practical, kind, and genuinely helpful tool designed to take some of the pressure off. In this post, we’ll walk you through exactly what’s inside, how it works, and why we made it. Whether you’re updating your resume for the first time in years, prepping for interviews, or just trying to feel less overwhelmed, this is for you. (And yes it’s free.)

What’s Inside the Job Hunt Kit

The Job Hunt Kit is organized to cover every step of an early-career job search, from polishing your resume to prepping for interviews to managing your well-being. We’ve bundled the latest career advice and tools so you don’t have to rely on outdated hacks. Here’s what you’ll find:

• Application Tracker:
A built-in table/spreadsheet to log every job, company, and date. Keeping all your applications in one place saves time and boosts efficiency. Indeed’s career experts note that staying organized (with a spreadsheet or tracker) helps you follow up in a timely manner and increases your chances of landing interviews.

• Resume & Cover Letter Toolkit: Up-to-date templates and guidance. We’ve included modern resume and cover-letter examples, along with tips to avoid common mistakes. As one job coach warns, an outdated resume can “hurt you during the hiring process” recruiters spend only seconds on a resume and might assume you aren’t current if your format or content is old. Our templates highlight your accomplishments with clear, relevant bullet points so you stand out.

• Interview Prep Guide: A list of common interview questions, sample answers, and space for your own notes. This lets you practice responses to everything from “Tell me about yourself” to “Why should we hire you?” ahead of time. Indeed points out that practicing typical interview questions can boost your confidence when it’s time to meet hiring managers. We also include tips on researching the company and a checklist of pre-interview tasks.

• Networking & Outreach: Email templates and prompts to help you connect with people in your field. These make it easier to reach out for informational interviews or follow-ups. Networking “can drastically improve your job prospects, introduce you to new opportunities”, so we’ve added sample messages and guidelines for building relationships (while remaining authentic and professional).

• Self-Care & Strategy: Reminders and advice for pacing yourself and avoiding burnout. We know how easy it is to feel stressed when you’re sending dozens of applications. Experts now recognize “job search fatigue” as a real phenomenon; it's not just tiredness, but emotional exhaustion and burnout. Career coaches point out that constant “hustle” isn’t the goal; effective job seekers strategize and rest, not grind endlessly. You’ll find tips here on setting realistic goals and taking breaks so you can come back refreshed.

Each part of the kit is customizable; you can rename sections, add new categories (like interview practice or networking events), and make it fit your workflow. We designed it to reduce stress by keeping everything in one place.

How to Use the Job Hunt Kit

Getting started is straightforward. The Job Hunt Kit is a Notion template, so first open the link below in a browser. If you don’t have a Notion account, you can sign up for free. Notion is free for personal use and works on any device. Once you have it open, click the “Duplicate” button in the top right (or tap the three-dots menu on mobile) to copy the template into your own Notion workspace.

After you’ve duplicated it, just fill in your information. Enter the jobs and companies you’ve applied to, mark interview dates, jot down notes on your research, and log follow-up tasks. The built-in tables will automatically track statuses for you. You can also duplicate or modify pages: for example, write your own cover letters, store lists of accomplishments to pull from, or add columns (say, to track hiring managers or where you heard about the job). Because it’s in Notion, you can update it anytime on your phone between errands or at your desk and everything syncs so you never lose your notes.

Quick Start Steps

Duplicate the template: Open the Job Hunt Kit link and click “Duplicate” in Notion to add it to your workspace.

Fill it in: Enter your details companies, positions, dates applied, interview steps, etc. The more you record, the more helpful it is.

Customize: Add or rename fields. For instance, include sections for networking contacts or a bucket list of target companies.

Use it daily: Check it regularly. Mark tasks done (like “applied” or “thank-you note sent”) and update statuses after interviews. Keeping this up-to-date helps prevent things from slipping through the cracks.

By following these steps, you’ll have a living dashboard for your entire job search. No more scattered spreadsheets or forgotten to-dos. You’ll also be following good advice backed by experts for example, Indeed’s guides on job tracking and organization.
